Hanare · Otsuka, Tokyo
In Japanese, hanare means a room set slightly apart from the main house — a place to withdraw, to breathe, to be unhurried. That is what this space is designed to be.
Sessions focus on two things the modern body tends to lose first: a well-regulated autonomic nervous system, and deep, restorative sleep.
Before acupuncture, Shintaro worked in editorial and production — which shapes how he listens. He came to this practice through a belief that the body holds more information than most clinical encounters allow time to hear.
At Hanare, he conducts every session himself. He uses both modern physiological assessment and classical East Asian diagnostic methods — pulse reading, abdominal palpation — to understand the full picture before placing a single needle.
His work has been featured in Katei Gaho, one of Japan’s leading lifestyle and wellness publications.
